The next stage of the creative process is the Revision Stage.
This is a great opportunity to seek feedback! Here is some advice on getting and giving feedback:
We know feedback is important, but when you are giving or receiving feedback, what are some important things to know?
- your feedback doesn’t need to come from just the teacher – you can give yourself feedback, you can get feedback from peers both inside and outside of the class, even your parents / guardians can provide feedback
- your feedback needs to be timely – if you want some feedback on your thumbnails, don’t wait until you have finished your preliminary drawing!
- your feedback needs to be detailed – be specific, don’t just say “I like it!”
- your feedback needs to reference the success criteria that is provided or developed by the class
- your feedback needs to be honest – if something is not great, tell them (and give them an idea of how to improve!)
- remember, one of the fundamental ideas in this program is that art is intended to communicate a message; any feedback needs to assist in making the message more meaningful
So seek feedback, look back at your subject and analyze your recreation, and most of all do not be afraid to rework your piece until it is right!
“I have rewritten — often several times — every word I have ever published. My pencils outlast their erasers.” — Vladimir Nabokov
