Grade 10 Art - Day 55 "The Colour Wheel"

Building upon our study of colour temperature and colour schemes, I would like to do a studio exercise that brings it all together...the colour wheel!

We will create a perfect circle that is divided like a pizza into 12 even slices and each slice will represent a primary, secondary, or tertiary colour.

Primary Colours

  • yellow
  • red
  • blue
Secondary Colours
  • orangle
  • violet
  • green
Tertiary Colours
  • yellow-orange
  • red-orange
  • red-violet
  • blue-violet
  • blue-green
  • yellow-green

Your progression, beginning with any of the following colours, will go as follows:

  • yellow
  • yellow-orange
  • orange
  • red-orange
  • red
  • red-violet
  • violet
  • blue-violet
  • blue
  • blue-green
  • green
  • yellow-green....and back to yellow!
Now look back to the wheel shown above which I found at http://www.dimensionsthruart.com/files/images/color%20wheel%20labeled.gif.  I hope it all makes sense given our conversation and practice today!
